The Sangam Retreat House logo is crafted to represent the essence and location of the retreat center through a thoughtful combination of visual elements and symbolism.
Lord Shiva:
The illustration of Lord Shiva in the foreground of the logo pays homage to Lord Shiva, the Adiyogi—the first yogi and the god of transformation and regeneration. Shiva is the primary deity worshipped in Tiruvannamalai, where Arunachala is one of the five most sacred abodes of the god in southern India.
Shiva, also known as Mahadeva, embodies timeless versatility in his many aspects—from benevolence as an ascetic yogi and a householder to wild and fierce when depicted slaying demons. His blue complexion signifies his triumph over poisons. The serpents coiled around him symbolize his mastery over Kundalini energy, while the crescent moon on Shiva’s head represents his power over time, cycles, and the ever-changing nature of existence.
Flame Motif:
As the legend goes, to settle an argument between Brahma and Vishnu over who was mightier, Shiva manifested himself first as a column of light and then as the form of Arunachala. This column of light is represented in the logo as the flame motif adorning Shiva.
Arunachala Hills
The silhouette of the Arunachala Hills, depicted in deep forest green with golden contour lines, represents the physical location of the retreat center. It symbolizes the natural beauty and serenity of the surroundings, as well as the connection to the mystical landscape.
Sunrise and Mandala:
The vermillion sunrise illuminating the deep blue-purple dawn skies behind the mountain symbolizes new beginnings and spiritual awakening, which can be experienced at the retreat center. The mandala, featuring nine golden petals, is a stylized representation of liberated souls in ascension, signifying the transformative and uplifting experience that Sangam offers.
Logo Type
The logotype “Sangam” is designed in a fantasy-inspired font with a handwritten, ornamental style. The burnished gold color adds an elegant and sophisticated touch to its overall aesthetic.
