Welcome to Sangam House. The Sanskrit word ‘Sangam’ represents the confluence of the rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and the celestial Saraswati.
Here in this beautiful retreat house, we witness a confluence—a flowing together of souls—with the sole purpose of creating a sacred field of contemplation, communion, and connection.
Sangam Retreat House facilitates this process by providing a tranquil, comfortable, and spacious home dedicated to this intention.
The house is located in the town of Tiruvannamalai, at the foot of the holy mountain of Arunachala. There are many living saints, ashrams, temples, tombs of saints, and other sacred spots around the mountain, especially along the road that circumambulates Arunachala, called Girivalam. It is considered a great blessing to walk this path. Arunachala has attracted seekers of the Truth for centuries and continues to do so.The great saint Ramana Maharshi lived here, and his ashram continues to this day. It is within walking distance of Sangam and is a focal point for the Tiruvannamalai community. Visitors can freely access the Meditation Hall where Ramana sat for decades. People from all over the world gathered here to immerse themselves in his transmission of Silence. Many report being drawn inward effortlessly. Various nectars of Being may arise—flavors of ecstasy, an exquisite Presence, or a longing to surrender oneself to the Divine.
Many resonate with the high frequencies, transmissions, and pervasive Silence of this area. Teachers of various approaches are invited to bring students for retreats here. The Presence at Ramana Ashram, Arunachala, and Tiruvannamalai will deepen and bless whatever teachings are offered.
The Holy Hill of Arunachala, in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, has been a focal point of worship, meditation, and retreat for centuries. Scriptures, sages, and saints tell us that this mysterious hill is, in fact, the form of Shiva himself. The great saint Ramana Maharshi was irresistibly drawn here after his Awakening. He came to Arunachala in search of his Father and remained here for the rest of his life. Many great beings have attained liberation here.
There are many ashrams, temples, and tombs of great saints within the ambit of Arunachala. Seekers, practitioners, and devotees from various traditions come to partake in the rarefied vibrational atmosphere, which is especially tangible at the Samadhi of Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi. The entire hill seems to emanate a profound sense of deep stillness and Silence that cannot be described, only experienced. It has long been a perfect retreat for ardent seekers to immerse themselves in deep meditation and contemplation.
